The Hand of Epione: A Symbol of the Past and Future of Nursing

The statue depicts Epione as follows:

  • Downward gaze: Serene, present with those who suffer

  • Holding a white poppy: Relief of suffering, rest, and compassion

  • A bowl of healing herbs: Care, tending the ill, and the art of healing

  • An olive wreath crown: Peace, healing, and restoration

Symbols shape professional identity.
